
Pesach seders
We want to make sure all CJC members and friends have somewhere to go for seder.
If you’re looking for a seder, please choose one from below and RSVP by April 8th.

When: Saturday, April 12th, 5pm (1st night)
Where: Cleveland Heights (RSVP for address)
Hosts: Drew Retherford, Jeff Boudon, Julie Payner
Food: Hosts will prepare meat, vegetarian, and vegan main-course options. If there’s kitniot, it will be labeled
Access: 4 steps into the house (but may be able to build a ramp if needed); bathroom on first floor; 1 cat
Bring: a potluck dish
People: max of 30 guests
Kids: We aren’t planning with families especially in mind, but anyone with kids who wishes to come is more than welcome, and we’ll be happy to prep accordingly, on the basis of the RSVP’s we receive
Themes likely to be highlighted: Reclaiming Judaism from hegemonic Zionism. Palestinian liberation. Jewish-Palestinian solidarity. Anticolonialism, anti-imperialism, anarchism & socialism. Muslim-Jewish solidarity.
Anything else you want folks to know: Come as you are! We are excited to celebrate the Festival of Liberation with you!

Food: Vegetarian meal with kitniot
Access: 2 steps into the house; bathroom on the main floor; 2 cats (could be put into a room for the evening if needed)
Bring: a vegetarian kosher-for-Pesach potluck dish
People: max of 12 guests
Kids: not kid-focused, but older kids who are interested in participating can join
Themes likely to be highlighted: justice
Anything else you want folks to know: we will do a full seder, and hope for it to be conversational and that everyone will participate! Our dream seder involves everyone bringing a reading or song, and lots of conversation. Plus good food and singing!
When: Sunday, April 13th, 3:30pm (2nd night)
Where: Solon (RSVP for address)
Hosts: Jennie Rosenstiel and Colleen Varnick (Jennie’s mom)
Food: Brisket and Salmon will be served. All sides will be pareve, most will be vegan and GF. GF matzo will be available. Kitniot will be served and clearly identified because not everyone in the family eats it. Food will be prepared in their regular cookware, not Pesach cookware.
Access: 4 steps into house; bathroom on first floor; 1 cat
Bring: Feel free to bring a dish or beverage, but neither is necessary
People: max of 10 guests
Kids: Yes! Kids are part of this family.
Themes likely to be highlighted: I haven’t thought that far ahead. Basket baby, frogs, and afikoman may be as deep as it gets this year. (The table ranges from Israel-critical to anti-zionist.)
Anything else you want folks to know: This will be Jennie’s family’s seder that folks are welcome to join.
When: Friday, April 18th, 7:30pm (7th night)
Where: University Heights (RSVP for address)
Hosts: Esther David & Amaryllis
Food: Dairy meal with kitniot, fish will be served but will be separate from everything else
Access: 3 steps into the house + 1-step portable ramp; first floor bathroom; 2 cats, can be put away and the house/couches vacuumed if anyone has allergies
Bring: a vegetarian kosher-for-Pesach potluck dish. If possible, please bring a bottle of wine or grape juice to make sure there is enough for everyone
People: max of 12 guests
Kids: yes! we’ll have some little toys as table decorations, and we can also set up the sun room as a place for the kids to hang out if they get loud/restless
Themes likely to be highlighted: doikayt, liberation, queerness, feminism, anti-zionism, indigenous solidarity, sephardi and ashkenazi traditions
Anything else you want folks to know: i am building a communal house altar to store our judaica! i would love for people to bring objects that resonate with the spirit of passover and/or the themes we will be highlighting to either temporarily or permanently live in or on our altar
