Shabbat

We believe in Shabbat as a radical practice of rest. There are many ways to engage in this practice, and we invite you to join us each month for whichever modalities feel resonant to you.

These gatherings happen almost every month in addition to special shabbes gatherings:

Kabbalat Shabbat & Dinner – with Nariya Cleveland

Join us for our monthly musical Kabbalat Shabbat with Nariya Cleveland! Raise your voice, catch your breath, and move your body as we create a circle of sound to welcome Shabbat. All backgrounds and ages welcome. Afterward around 7:15, join us for a kosher pescatarian shabbes dinner with DF and GF options – register by the previous Tuesday at 5pm ONLY IF you plan to stay for dinner (https://chevremitsui.co/nariya).

Contact Rabbi Micah Shapiro (shapiro.micah@gmail.com) from Nariya Cleveland with any questions.

Co-sponsored by Cleveland Jewish Collective, Kol HaLev, and Mitsui Collective. Hosted by Beth El – The Heights Synagogue.

Shabbat Hike

Join us to enjoy Shabbat outdoors. This is a chance to connect with each other and the earth. The location and difficulty varies month to month. All ages welcome.

Community Shabbes: generally the 4th Saturday of the month. Come hang out for whichever part(s), including just lunch!

Community Shabbes

Our monthly Community Shabbes is a chance to come together, whether you want to pray, learn, or just hangout! You’re welcome to come to whichever part(s) you want and/or to hang out in the community space.

10:30-12:30 Shachrit (morning prayer)
We begin with prayers of awakening and gratitude. Our prayer is songful and interspersed with English poetry. We have a brief Torah service with 1 aliyah.

12:30-1:30 vegetarian potluck lunch*

Location & Access:

Kids: We will have an area set up with a few games and activities for little ones to play.

*Food: CJC will provide challah and grape juice. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share.

Some people in our community are Gluten Free, Dairy Free, or allergic to nuts or purple nightshades – please keep these dietary needs in mind as you decide what to bring, so that everyone has at least one thing they can eat. Please list ingredients so that people know what they are able to eat.
