Join us to celebrate Tu b’Shvat, the New Year of the Trees!
You are welcome to join us for all or part of the day.
10:30am Winter Sowing Workshop // All ages
We love planting seeds on Tu b’Shvat, but usually it’s the wrong time to plant seeds for our climate. With winter sowing you can actually start things like tomatoes, cucumber, flowers, etc outside in the winter in Ohio and they do really well. Celeste will lead this workshop. We will provide dirt and a selection of vegetable, flower, and native plant seeds. Please bring empty gallon jugs if you can, and you are also welcome to bring seeds if you want.
12:00pm Shabbes Lunch
CJC will provide a hearty soup (vegan & GF), along with challah, ritual grape juice, and drinks.
1:00pm Tu b’Shvat Attunement Seder // Adult-oriented
Guided by the Kabbalistic Tu b’Shvat Seder, we will attune with the earth and ourselves as we celebrate the trees. Led by Rabbi Miriam and Louise.
2:30pm Tu b’Shvat Tish // Adult-orientedWe will close the day with a Tish, an Ashkenazi tradition of shabbes singing. We invite you to bring your favorite tree, bird, or nature songs to teach and sing!
What to wear & bring:
- A gallon jug (or jugs!) for the winter sowing workshop
- If you want, bring a tree, bird, or nature song for the tish!
- We’ll mostly be inside the (heated) shelter, but we will go outside to forage, so be prepared to spend some time outside!
Access Info:
- Masks required indoors except when eating or for an access need
